Sources connected with the case tell TMZ ... Brooke's lawyer, Yale Galanter, and Pitkin County, Colorado prosecutor Arnie Mordkin have been meeting, and we're told they're talking about a deferred prosecution ... meaning Brooke will probably have to take some drug ed classes and perform community service and then the charges will be formally dismissed.
Brooke was arrested December 2 and charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as misdemeanor assault.
Brooke's next scheduled court date was set for March 5, but we're told it's been moved to April 2. During that hearing, Brooke will be present and -- unless negotiations fall apart -- she will enter her plea and the judge will impose his sentence.

Ray J is adamant ... he is NOT secretly harboring a stash of sexually explicit photos and video, depicting him and Whitney Houston in the throes of passion -- because no such stash exists.
There have been reports ... Ray is sitting on a hoard of sex tapes and XXX photos -- holding them over the Houston family as ransom -- because he knows they're worth a pretty penny.
But Ray J's rep tells TMZ, "The despicable tabloid report released today claiming the existence of a sex tape between Ray J and Whitney Houston is not true ... There is no sex tape."
Sources extremely close to Ray J tell us the singer insists he NEVER took sexually explicit pics of Whitney ... or recorded ANY of their intimate encounters.

Cissy Houston -- Whitney Houston's mom -- has reacted fiercely to the video we posted Wednesday ... showing Bobbi Kristina and Whitney's "adopted" son Nick Gordon in a romantic grip, and then kissing (below).
Cissy told a close friend, "What they're doing is incestuous." Cissy feels her granddaughter has problems and Nick is taking advantage of her.
Although Whitney never formally adopted Nick, she considered him her son and Bobbi called him her brother. For his part, Nick called Bobbi his sister.
Cissy is so concerned that Bobbi has become impressionable and therefore an easy target for Nick, she's asking the Whitney Houston Estate to take legal steps to get him evicted from Whitney's home -- where Bobbi Kristina is also living.

It took less than an hour -- but a NY politician is totally stepping up to the plate to accept the Yankees-Phillies mohawk challenge issued by Pennsylvania congressman Robert Brady ... but in case you haven't noticed, there's just one small problem...
Congressman John Hall (D-NY19) wants a piece of the head-shaving action ... but he seems to be lacking the proper equipment for a proper mohawk. Instead, he wants to raise the stakes. Here's John's statement:
"Brady must not be that confident. Just a mohawk? I'll see his mohawk and raise him a whole head. I'll shave all my hair if the Phillies win – which we all know isn't happening."
Some people in the TMZ newsroom believe Hall has more at stake -- due to the fact that balding people usually cherish the few follicles they have left. Others believe Brady -- and his big grey mane -- have more to lose.

It all went down last night at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Monday Night RAW -- John Cena stormed the ring to attack WWE champion Alberto Del Rio ... and the two were photo-bombed by a tiny mouse.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

"Last Comic Standing" finalist and outspoken weed advocate Ralphie May is finally calling it quits on the sticky icky -- telling TMZ, smoking marijuana nearly killed him last year ... so he's giving it up for good.
May tells us, he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia before taking a cruise last November -- but the condition quickly got worse ... and before long, he was holed up in the boat's infirmary with a life-threatening lung infection.
May tells us, "If I hadn't been a 20-year weed smoker, it wouldn't have been as bad."
You'll recall -- May was detained in a Guam airport back in 2010 for weed possession after the comic decided to pet a drug-sniffing dog. Not his brightest moment.
May says he used to smoke around 4 ounces of pot a WEEK, but "feels great" ever since he quit -- adding, "I had a great time doing it, but now I can pet every dog in Guam."
Pet Store "Horrified" and "Appalled" by Puppy Mills | TMZ.com
The chi-chi pet store where Paris Hilton and Britney Spears got their pooches says they're "horrified" and "appalled" by the possibility that their dogs might've come from a puppy mill, but stopped short of admitting that that's where they came from.
In a statement issued to TMZ, Pets of Bel Air says that it would "never knowingly buy a dog from a puppy mill," as the Humane Society of the United States has alleged. Pets of Bel Air also says that "to the best of our knowledge," all the puppies are from approved breeders. As for its permit to sell animals, which had expired, the shop says it was a clerical error that allowed it to expire. They've provided TMZ with the renewed permit.

We are horrified by the recent video released by the Humane Society of the United States showing footage of puppy mills. We do not condone puppy mills; we would never knowingly buy a dog from a puppy mill; and we are appalled by the possibility that this may have happened. We are investigating all of our sources so that we continue to nurture the finest and most reputable dogs from the best breeders, a practice that we've held central to our business since we opened nine years ago.
To the best of our knowledge, our beautiful puppies purchased out-of –state are from USDA approved pet breeders. We rely on our governmental agency to be sure that these breeders are inspected. All of our puppies are given health checks by our store veterinarian when they become part of our family and before joining their new families. Our puppies are all sold with a health warranty, and are not available to go home to their new families until they have been cleared by a veterinarian.
It has been brought to our attention that our permit to sell animals has expired and we have remedied this issue. The permit fee went inadvertently unpaid due to a clerical error. Upon completion of an inspection by Animal Services, which is scheduled for Thursday, Pets of Bel Air will reopen.

Every employee at Pets of Bel Air is an animal lover, as evidenced by the care and love we show our puppies and kittens each day; the healthy environment we provide; and the respect we show each of you. UPDATE: The HSUS issued TMZ the following response: "The Humane Society of the United States' investigation makes it clear that Pets of Bel Air puppies came from puppy mills. The store's claim of ignorance just doesn't measure up: they made absolute assurances to their customers of the sources of their puppies - noting specifically on their website that their "babies come from private breeders". These claims are typical of slick pet store sales techniques - and Pets of Bel Air would have kept on making them if not for The HSUS' investigation.
They also can't deny the confessions of their store staff about the health of the animals, and their description of how they mislead customers.
Pets of Bel Air claims they set the standard for the pet store industry - that's exactly our fear. Pets of Bel Air's deceitful tactics are standard fare in pet stores across the nation. The pet store industry knowingly supports the cruel and reckless business of puppy mills. The HSUS will continue to work tirelessly to shine a spotlight on this indefensible abuse and let the public know how to avoid supporting it themselves."
